Artist Bio

Greta Perea was born in 1971 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has always had a keen interest and hidden talent in the visual arts. Upon discovering this talent she decided that she wanted to make this her career and in 2006 attended the University of North Texas to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art with an emphasis in drawing and painting. After taking a design class that focused on sculpting with different mediums she quickly learned that her passion was working with metal to create beautiful three dimensional objects. From that point on she changed her major to Metalsmithing and Jewelry design and the rest is history…

Over the next four years Greta had the fortune of studying under several esteemed metal artists that include, Harlan Butt, Ana Lopez and Richard Davis, where she learned numerous techniques and developed her artistic talent in working with metal. In May of 2010, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and is now an independent professional studio artist.

Greta’s works are inspired by nature’s beauty and formed by the varieties of music she listens to while she works.  She gets additional inspiration from the work of other metal artists such as Victoria Lansford and Jessica Joslin.

Currently, Greta resides in Plano Texas with her husband and business partner Anthony. She spends most of her time in her studio working on new jewelry designs that incorporate Russian filigree as well as working on several independent commissioned projects.

Her work is on display and for sell at Last Art Gallery  in McKinney, TX
